Please join me in congratulating Ms. Juana Moncada for the appointment of Director of University Housing and Residence Life Experience.
The Director of University Housing and Residence Life Experience, under the general direction of the Vice President for Student Engagement and Success, oversees the comprehensive organization and administration of Tarleton’s residential and community life on campus. This includes approximately over 3,500 residents, over two university apartments, and 9 residence halls. The Director plays a key role in the strategic planning of the department with a focus on customer service, operations, safety, security, fiscal responsibility, and compliance. The Director provides guidance and serves as a liaison, between the Division of Student Engagement and Success, and all other divisions such as Academic Affairs, Athletics and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and International Programs, and Finance and Administration. The Director also serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
The Director plays an integral role in the formation of students and sets the tone for much of the student experience outside the classroom. The Director provides visionary leadership to enhance the Residence Life program. The Director aligns program strategy and initiatives to meet the needs of the existing residential student population and is responsible for planning, coordinating, developing, and executing university policies, procedures, and practices related to the comprehensive scope of the Residence Life program.
Ms. Juana Moncada has served as the Interim Director since February 2023 and the Assistant Director of Residence Life at Tarleton State University since 2019. With over ten years of experience in higher Education, she has a strong commitment to mentoring and serving a diverse student population, creating a co-curricular residential experience, and an emphasis on giving ALL students the best on-campus support and opportunities. In her interim role, Juana has deepened the relationship with campus shareholders to support the overall commitment to the residence life experience for incoming and returning students.
During her time at Tarleton, Ms. Juana Moncada has served as the Residence Hall Director for Hunewell Hall, Bender Hall, Ferguson Hall, and Integrity Hall. In 2017 and 2018, Ms. Moncada served as the co-coordinator for Family Relations while supporting her residence life work. Before Tarleton, Ms. Moncada worked at Angelo State University in Graduate Admissions. Ms. Moncada earned her Master’s in Student Development and Leadership from Angelo State University, and she earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Tarleton State University. Ms. Moncada is a proud first-generation college graduate and is delighted to continue serving the Tarleton community. Ms. Moncada is pursuing her Ed.D in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University.
