A Message from Residence Life
This has been an incredible year for on-campus students and we are experiencing great student success rates with the highest reapplication numbers we have ever had. We are so excited to see the number of students returning to campus next year. While this is wonderful news, it also comes with some challenges. The majority of our new, incoming applicants and returning students have been assigned and we still have some students waiting for an assignment.
As our high-demand facilities fill up, it is necessary to slow down the assignment process to monitor student preferences with availability. We appreciate your patience as we work to make assignment adjustments to meet as many needs as possible. Students who do not have a housing assignment will be assigned as spaces become available with the largest number of spaces becoming available in late May and early June.
Students who are assigned and who want an assignment change should submit a Room Change Request through the housing portal in My Gateway. While we can’t guarantee a room change, we work to meet as many preferences as possible and we will continue to work on assignment changes throughout the remainder of the spring and summer months. It is important for students to complete the Room Change Request as that list is designed to track requests in a way that individualized phone calls and emails do not.
Our housing assignment software will be undergoing an upgrade during the week of March 7-14, 2022. Students will not be able to submit an application or room change request during that window but the system is due to re-open in mid-March. It isn’t easy to wait for an assignment and we will continue to work to assign students with a commitment to assigning those who completed their re-application by the priority deadline first.
