Dr. Credence Baker to Serve as acting Chief of Staff, VP for University Relations

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to share that Dr. Credence Baker has agreed to serve as acting Chief of Staff and Vice President for University Relations. She begins her duties today while continuing as Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

Dr. Baker did an exceptional job leading our yearlong strategic planning process and helping us chart a course to become the premier comprehensive regional university in the nation. She brings high energy, outstanding organizational skills and a love of Tarleton to this vital assignment.

A Professor in the College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Technology, Dr. Baker has filled several key leadership positions in her 16 years at Tarleton, including director of the Center for Instructional Innovation and certification officer for the university before joining the College of Graduate Studies team.

In her role as a faculty member, she has helped secure more than $3.2 million in funded grants and sponsored projects, authored 23 research publications, and chaired or served as a committee member on numerous dissertations and theses.

In addition to managing the President’s Office and serving as an official representative of the university, she will coordinate legal and policy issues with The Texas A&M University System, state agencies and organizations. She also will oversee Tarleton’s marketing and communications efforts to elevate our institution’s prominence.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Baker for her willingness to serve in this important role.
