In compliance with Senate Bill 1, passed by the 87th Legislature (2021) and to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Tarleton State University today moves to a case management approach for students, faculty and staff exposed to the virus. A COVID Response Center — led by Dr. Diana Ortega-Feerick, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, and Dr. Jordan Barkley, Senior Associate Provost for Academic Administration — will be staffed by temporarily reassigned employees to assist with case management.
Only students, faculty and staff testing positive need to self-report via the Roadmap website and isolate until medically cleared to return to campus. The university will continue to notify students and employees who are exposed to a positive case on campus. There are no requirements to quarantine if notified of an exposure; however, those exposed are highly encouraged to consider the following measures:
Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and immediately report to their primary care physician or Student Health Services if they believe they have COVID
Self-report if they feel ill or suspect they may have COVID
Wear a face covering when social distancing is not an option
Avoid crowded spaces
COVID testing (either rapid or PCR) to ensure they are not COVID positive
Symptomatic students may test on campus through Student Health Services. Asymptomatic students and employees may test on campus through Risk Management or off campus locations of their choosing.
Free on-campus testing and vaccine clinics top the list of university efforts to maintain a healthy living and learning environment. Students and employees also can help by continuing to practice healthy behaviors that reduce the spread of the virus.
